According to the controversial Mgilija Nhleko, King Goodwill Zwelithini left him in charge of Amabutho. Mgilija insists that the late king gave him the position as a commander of Amabutho. Mgilija, who received harsh criticism for supporting Zuma in Nkandla, has hit back at Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi. He says he’s puzzled why Mangosuthu never said he was not a commander of Zulu regiments while King Goodwill Zwelithini was still around.

The angry Mgilija further denied that he said the Zulu nation is currently without a King even though King Misuzulu is be considered to be on the throne pending coronation.

Mgilija was speaking as he responded to the statement released by Buthelezi, which stated that Amabutho were not authorized to be in Nkandla. Buthelezi also held a media briefing addressing the actions of amaButho who gathered outside the former president Jacob Zuma’s homestead over the weekend following the Constitutional Court order that Zuma hand himself over to police begin a 15-month jail sentence. During the briefing, he described Amabutho’s actions as ill-disciplined and should be treated as treasonous.

Buthelezi has been painted as someone who loves media and attention too much. “He must stop using Royal Family and Zulu nation to to push for narrow political interests…HE MUST REST NOW!!”

According to public opinion, Baba Mangosuthu Buthelezi is forgetting how he used Zulu warriors because he was in control of AmaKhosi and Izinduna for IFP politics, now he wants to speak on behalf of the king regarding Amabutho at Jacob Zuma house, some of amakhosi are already ANC and he can’t control that.
