Siboniso Gumede has been appointed as the new assistant coach of Richards Bay, as previously reported by iDiski Times.

Gumede, 37, has been promoted from the DDC head coach role to work alongside new head coach Kaitano Tembo.

The former Platinum Stars, Bidvest Wits, AmaZulu and Black Aces defender was selected by Chairman Jomo Biyela last week amidst struggles to secure a new head coach.

Steven Polack, Luc Eymael and even Josef Zinbbauer at one point were in talks over the vacancy after the exit of Vasili Manousakis, but after weeks of searching, Tembo, who previously had spells with SuperSport United and Sekhukhune United secured the role.

Cavin Johnson and Dylan Kerr were the other coaches linked with the hot seat for the Natal Rochboyz who suffered an alarming drop in form in 2023 after finishing the first half of the season in the CAF inter-club qualification spots.
