Burna Boy Promoter Seeks Protection Amid Fears for His Life

South African-based promoter Gregory Jerome Wings Jr., who represents Burna Boy, has taken legal action against his former business partner and politician, Abraham Radebe, in a bid to safeguard his safety. The 42-year-old businessman alleges that Radebe is plotting to have him abducted, with the intention of extorting money from him.

The conflict between the two former partners escalated following the highly publicized Burna Boy concert in September, which unfortunately ended in failure. Wings attributes part of this failure to other business associates, including Sedote Nwachukwu, the CEO of Ternary Media Group, whom he accuses of embezzling millions. In response, Wings has initiated fraud cases against these individuals.

According to Wings, Radebe has made menacing threats, asserting his influence and connections within the African National Congress (ANC). In an affidavit filed on February 27, Wings claims that Radebe pilfered R7.5 million from their joint business venture. Furthermore, Radebe has allegedly engaged in a campaign of harassment, spreading false accusations about Wings being involved in criminal activities. This harassment has occurred through various channels, including text messages, phone calls, emails, and social media.

In a shocking revelation, Wings discloses that Radebe attempted to bribe someone with R50,000 to fabricate a criminal case against him. Wings promptly reported this incident to the Midrand Police Station on February 13, 2024. Radebe’s offer to pay individuals to orchestrate his kidnapping and extort money from him is deeply troubling. The proposed deal included a promise of 20% of the ill-gotten gains.

Additionally, Radebe has allegedly reached out to the media, attempting to tarnish Wings’ reputation by disseminating false narratives. In light of these threats and actions, Wings has sought a court-issued protection order. He aims to prevent Radebe from contacting his business associates and spreading further falsehoods about him. The safety of Wings and his 29-year-old wife, Britney Wings, hangs in the balance as the court awaits Radebe’s response
