ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered a keynote address during the ANC’s annual January 8 Statement, outlining the party’s plans for the future.

Ramaphosa acknowledged the challenges faced by the ANC, including rising poverty and inequality, the cost of living, and economic instability. In response, he pledged to accelerate the reconstruction of the economy, with a focus on delivering quality basic services and infrastructure.

Renewing the ANC and society, fighting crime and corruption, rejuvenating the nation, and contributing towards a better Africa and world were key objectives highlighted by Ramaphosa.

He emphasized the importance of working together with alliance partners to address these challenges and deliver basic services to the people.

The ANC, which marks 30 years in power, aims for a decisive victory in the 2024 general elections. Ramaphosa called on all party members to campaign tirelessly to retain power and urged the ANC Youth League to mobilize young South Africans to register to vote. He emphasized the significance of exercising the hard-won right to shape the future of the country.

Ramaphosa announced that the ANC will launch its Election Manifesto next month, providing a clear vision and program for taking the country forward over the next five years and beyond.

This manifesto will outline the party’s plans for job creation, economic growth, improving basic services and infrastructure, addressing load shedding, and tackling crime and corruption.

To encourage voter participation, the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) will hold the next voter registration weekend on February 3 and 4. Ramaphosa urged all South Africans, especially the youth, to register to vote and play a role in shaping the future of the nation.
