Muhsin Ertugral has been in the spotlight, confirming overseas offers and interest from within the PSL. The experienced Turkish coach’s name has surfaced as a potential contender for the vacant head coach position at Kaizer Chiefs.

As Amakhosi Chiefs continue their search for a permanent head coach following Molefi Ntseki’s departure in October 2023, Cavin Johnson currently leads the team in an interim capacity. Johnson, who initially joined Chiefs as Head of Academy in September 2023, has expressed his desire to assume the head coach role permanently. However, his inclusion on the Soweto giants’ shortlist remains unconfirmed.

In contrast, Ertugral’s connection with Amakhosi runs deeper. He previously served as their head coach during the 1999/2000 season. Although his first stint ended in 2002 due to inconsistent results, he left with an impressive trophy haul, including the BP Top 8 Cup, Coca-Cola Cup, and the Mandela Cup (now known as the CAF Confederation Cup).

Ertugral returned to Naturena for two more seasons between 2007 and 2009, securing victories in the MTN8 and the Telkom Knockout. His coaching journey in South Africa extended beyond Chiefs, as he also led Orlando Pirates, Golden Arrows, Maritzburg United, Santos, and Ajax Cape Town.

While Ertugral hasn’t specified any particular club, he has confirmed receiving offers both from abroad and within the PSL. When asked about a potential return to coaching in South Africa, he replied, “At the moment, no. But I won’t rule out anything—you never know in the near future. I’m very busy with a great job that I currently have in the Emirates, and it makes me very happy. I have a couple of projects”. His next move remains intriguing, and football enthusiasts eagerly await further developments.
