Kaizer Chiefs announced six new signings on Monday, 3 July 2023 as they are bolstering their squad ahead of the 2023/24 PSL season. FARPost writer Otis Ntshangase looks at how the players fared last season at their previous respective clubs.

The Soweto giants will be aiming to forget the disastrous 2022/23 PSL campaign they experience under the guidance of coach Arthur Zwane.

They finished fifth on the DStv Premiership standings after amassing 44 points, missing out on continental football. Amakhosi also extended their trophy draught to eight years.

Ahead of the new campaign former Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki will be the man in-charge of the Soweto giants with Zwane and Dillon Sheppard serving as assistant coaches.

The Chiefs academy player, Mdantsane was signed from Cape Town City FC on a three-year deal.

The 28-year-old had been a key player for the Citizens in the four years he spent at the club playing in the midfield position.

Last season, the midfield maestro was one to the club’s players, featuring in many matches. All-in-all, he played 34 matches in all competitions, scoring two, providing an assist.

GIVEN MSIMANGO

The 26-year-old was acquired from TS Galaxy in an attempt to help solve Amakhosi’s problems at the back.

The former Rockets skipper had an average season with the club, however they missed out on finishing in the top eight as they ended in the 10th position.

Msimango made 32 appearances for the Mbombela outfit. Two in the Nedbank Cup and never missed a single league match [30]. He helped the team keep 15 cleansheets.

RANGA CHIVAVIRO

Chivaviro had a great season with Marumo Gallants despite relegation from the South African topflight.

The 30-year old was a nightmare for the defenders and goalkeepers causing them all sorts of troubles.

He is a great addition to the Glamour Boys as they had difficulties in converting most of their chances last season. Last season, the goal-poacher made 30 appearances for Gallants and scored 17 goals.

The Botswana national football captain was another addition at the back for Amakhosi coming from SuperSport United.

Ditlhokwe was the club’s first signing after he signed a pre-contract in January 2023 after his deal had entered in the last few months.

Last season, he played an important role for Matsatsantsa as they finished third on the log. In 27 matches he featured in, the 24-year-old had 12 cleansheets and scored two goals.

According to Kaizer Chiefs media department, he will be arriving in the country this week.
