Zambia international forward Augustine Mulenga looks set to return to AmaZulu, iDiski Times has been informed.

The 34-year-old returned to the DStv Premiership at the start of the 2023/24 season after recovering from a career-threatening injury he suffered at Usuthu and starring back in his homeland with Napsa Stars.

And he’s been an ever-present figure for Chippa, predominantly featuring as a winger under Morgan Mammilla, who was replaced as head coach last week.

With Kwanele Kopo and Thabo September, the new co-head coaches installed, Thabiso Lebitso has parted ways and Mulenga is set to follow suit.

Sources have indicated a move back to Durban is drawing close, subject to a routine medical check for the veteran forward.

Coach Pablo Franco Martin has been calling for attacking reinforcement, specifically wide players since the start of the new season and it appears a short-term option of Mulenga was the preferred addition for the mid-season transfer window.

Augustine Mulenga believes that he can make a good return at the club with a lot of impact since he also scored the winning goal for Amazulu Football Club against Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club to break their unbeaten run in more that 15 games.

Amazulu Football Club head coach by the name of Pablo Franco Martin is happy with the signing of Augustine Mulenga because he believes that the quality and experience of the player can help them a lot as a Club.

Amazulu Football Club will look to strengthen their striking force at the second half of the Dstv Premiership season after the Africa Cup of Nations which is hosted in Cote Divore.

Augustine Mulenga is also delighted that he is set to sign a contract with Amazulu Football Club.
