Cape Town Spurs are set to complete the signing of a former AmaZulu FC midfielder ahead of the new season.

Spurs competed in the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season. They gained promotion to South Africa’s elite league via the PSL Promotional playoffs.

The Ikamva-based outfit has moved quickly to tie down a couple of their players from last season.

MANAGED TO RETAIN THEIR PLAYERS

Michael Morton, Clayton Daniels, Nazeer Allie, Lubeni Haukongo, Therlo Moosa, Morne Nel, Zama Dlamini and Logan Brown are some of the players that the club has managed to hold on to.

Siphesihle Mkhize is another addition to the squad that spent last season on loan at Chippa United. Mkhize is not new to Spurs, having been at Ikamva previously under the Ajax Cape Town name.

He joins Spurs permanently from Mamelodi Sundowns on a three-year deal. The deal was confirmed by his agent Ntobatsi Masegela.

But with the Urban Warriors aiming to compete in the DStv Premiership for the 2023/24 season, this publication understands that the club will further add more depth to the midfield department by welcoming a Cape Town-born player from Usuthu.

On Wednesday, the former Kaizer Chiefs deep-lying midfielder was spotted at Cape Town Spurs headquarters in Parow.

The 31-year-old Keagan Buchanan looks set to join CT Spurs permanently after cutting ties with the Durban-based side a few months ago.

Personal terms have already been agreed with the former Bloemfontein Celtic player. It is believed to be a two-year deal with the Shaun Bartlett-led Spurs.

Buchanan joined Usuthu at the beginning of last season. This was after Ernst Middendorp deemed him surplus to requirements at Maritzburg United.

SPOTTED AT CAPE TOWN SPURS

He went on to rack up 57 appearances in all competitions at AmaZulu and will join Spurs as a free agent after his contract was terminated.

“Yes Keagan Buchanan was spotted at Spurs on Wednesday, the club will only announce in the next few days,” a close source told FARPost.“He is joining them as a free agent, so no transfer fee is involved.”

Spurs have also confirmed they will retain the services of head coach Bartlett for a further two years after promoting the team to the top flight.
