Chiefs Man Stars In AFCON Qualifier

Kaizer Chiefs striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana stared in his side’s 3-2 win over Namibia to draw the Group C in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers wide open.

Burundi got off to the perfect start, scoring inside 40 seconds via Abedi Bigirimana, while Bimenyimana made it 2-0 after nine minutes.

The Chiefs striker also set up his side’s third goal, when Hussein Shabani scored in the 19th minutes.

Namibia tried to stage a historic comeback and pulled one goal back before half-time via Mamelodi Sundowns star Peter Shalulile.

They scored another via Wendell Rudath in the 85th minute, but it was a little too late.

Despite the defeat, Namibia stayed at the top of Group C with five points from four games. The Brave Warriors are followed by Burundi and Cameroon, who are both on four points after three matches.

A win for either of the latter two would see them and Namibia book their ticket for the Africa Cup of Nations, while a draw in the final Group C would see the calculators come out.

It is another three-team group after Kenya were disqualified, and all teams cancel each other out in the head-to-head record, with Burundi having the upper hand over Namibia, but Namibia having the upper hand over Cameroon and (in case of a draw in the final game) Cameroon having the upper hand over Burundi.

The next tie breaker would be goal difference, but they all have the same, and goals scored, which would favour Namibia and Burundi currently.

All Group C results:

Burundi 3-2 Namibia

Namibia 2-1 Cameroon
