SA Reserve Bank governor Lesetja’s daughter bagged 11 distinctions in 2023 matric exams

The South African Reserve Bank governor Lesetja Kganyago’s daughter, Mmabodiba Kganyago bagged 11 distinctions in the 2023 matric exams that were administered by the Independent Examinations Board.

News24 revealed the outstanding success achieved by the 18-year-old.

Mmabodiba from Cornwall Hill College in Pretoria was accepted to study medicine at Wits University and the University of Pretoria. However she has opted to study actuarial science instead of medicine.

The news of her success has made headlines and divided Mzansi’s social media users.

While many celebrated the success, others taunted and questioned her success.

Radio personality Sol Phenduka wrote, “Imagine if the Average South African child could school on a full stomach, in well a resourced government school and coming from a peaceful and comfortable home….. These kind of stories would be a norm and Southa would be flourish on so many fronts.”

Anele Mdoda replied the tweet with, “Friend. Let’s not dim this girl’s achievements. I had exactly what you are listing here and didn’t achieve half of what this little girl did. Not every thing has to be a battle ground. Please let’s play fair.”

A tweep wrote, “Kids from affluent families getting distinctions should not be praised, it’s expected when you wake up to a warm shower, breakfast & drive to school while getting every resource you need when needed. Kids from these schools are the ones that deserve ululations for distinctions.”

“It’s not surprising at all she had every resources in place for her, I’m sure she never had issues with loadshedding during exams,” another wrote.
