Somizi Weighs in on Controversy Surrounding Zim Content Creator Ndoyisile

Outspoken media personality Somizi Mhlongo has joined the conversation surrounding Zimbabwean-born content creator Ndoyisile, who faced backlash for comments about residents of Tembisa crowding the Mall of Africa.
Ndoyisile, a popular TikTokker based in South Africa, sparked outrage when he remarked:
“I think people who make the Mall of Africa full are people from Tembisa. Don’t you guys have a mall in Tembisa? People are just gallivanting and occupying the mall for no reason, and it’s so uncomfortable for us who are here who are claustrophobic.”
The statement caused an uproar on social media, with fans calling for others to unfollow the content creator. Despite issuing an apology, Ndoyisile saw a significant drop in his follower count, losing thousands of fans in a short time.
Reacting to the drama on his TikTok page, Somizi expressed shock at how quickly public opinion can shift. Known for his candid takes on social issues, the media personality reflected on the volatile nature of online fame and how one misstep can lead to a sharp decline in support.
Social media users were divided on the issue. Some criticized cancel culture, while others believed Ndoyisile deserved the backlash.
- @Shamie🧘♀️ said: “I really feel bad for Ndoyi; he was just making content related to his previous work… 😥”
- @Mpuci commented: “I love Ndoyi, but he needs to be sincere with his apology, avele azoneke nje😩”

- @Thembekile Shongwe added: “When you are a visitor in someone’s house, you behave!! Lol, asidlali la🤟🤣”
The incident has reignited debates about accountability versus cancel culture, with some emphasizing the importance of being mindful of one’s platform and audience. For Ndoyisile, the fallout serves as a reminder of the fine line content creators walk in the digital age.
