Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana finally made his starting XI debut for FCSB in Romania and helped his new side to a 3-0 with an impressive display.

Ngezana, who turned 26 last month joined the 26-time league winners from Chiefs in the off-season in a deal that could reach up to R12-million.

However, he was made to wait until matchday six to make his official league debut coming on as a half-substitute for former Tottenham defender Vlad Chiricheș, another off-season signing that’s kept him out of the team to date.

With Chiriches looking to be sidelined for longer, Ngezana has used his first opportunity to impress.

He helped his side beat Universitatea Craiova 3-0 away from home, securing the sixth league win in seven games, as well as a clean sheet.

Ngezana made six clearances in the match, blocked two shots and had a pass completion rate of 84.4%.

FCSB next face Hermannstadt on 10 September, as the league continues during the FIFA break. Ngezana’s new side sit two points ahead of second-placed CFR Cluj in first position.
