Mamelodi Sundowns Chairman Tlhopie Motsepe has wished Steve Komphela well after his move to Swallows.
Komphela, who joined Sundowns in 2020 as part of the coaching trio with Rulani Mokwena and Manqoba Mngqithi won two league titles over his two seasons at the club.
He was also part of a reshuffle last season that saw him promoted from Senior Coach to First Team Coach but on Sunday his shock exit was confirmed as he becomes the head coach of the Dube Birds in the 2023/24 season.
“Steve Komphela served Mamelodi Sundowns with loyalty and devotion and will always be a member of the Mamelodi Sundowns Family. We wish him everything of the best,” he told the club’s official website.
It’s a reunion with his assistant coach Ditheko Mototo, whom he worked with at Celtic while Musa Nyatama was a player during their time together at Siwelele, and now also forming part of the new-look technical team at the Soweto-based outfit.
