Former Mamelodi Sundowns forward Phakamani Mahlambi is working hard to get back into football after being without a club since 2022.

The 25-year-old last played his football at Chippa United, when he was loaned from Sundowns in 2021/22.

But he struggled for game-time, making just three appearances before returning to his mother club, where he departed in 2022.

After coming through the ranks at Bidvest Wits, Mahlambi had a brief spell at Al Ahly in Egypt, before returing to South Africa in 2018 to join Sundowns.

Mahlambi featured 44 times for Sundowns in all competitions, scoring seven goals. He won two league titles and a Telkom Knockout with Downs before he was loaned out to AmaZulu and Chippa.

He has been without a team since July 2022 after he left Masandawana, but his representative Glyn Binkin has insisted he hasn’t given up on career just yet.

“He is currently training hard to get fit and we will then assess any options thereafter,” Binkin told iDiski Times.

He was previously linked with Motsepe Foundation Championship side All Stars but a move never materialised and the club are now understood to have their status to Black Leopards.
