Kaizer Chiefs are set to welcomed back a fan-favourite to Naturena, Our Source stated that This Amakhosi legend will return to Amakhosi training later this month.

Itumeleng Khune has served his suspension and will be back in the mix when the team resumes training later this month.

Khune was placed on suspension after showing up for training with an alcoholic stench. To the delight of the Amakhosi faithful, he will return.

“The team will be back to training sometime in January to start preparing for the resumption of the league in February. So, yes, Khune will also be back after serving his suspension. What happened was not good for him and the club, that’s why they (Chiefs management) decided to suspend him. It was part of sending a strong message to everyone in the squad to know that such things won’t be tolerated,” the insider stated on Phakaaati.

Alcohol consumption or behavioral problems at Naturena are not acceptable to the management of Amakhosi. Khune, who has worked for this club for almost 20 years, thankfully expressed regret, accepted responsibility, and demonstrated his devotion.

“But I’m certain that he will be happy to be back and be part of the squad again. He loves this club and has shown remorse about what he did during the disciplinary hearing,” he added on the same publication.

Khune will have difficulty seeing any action. Bruce Bvuma is the man most recently entrusted with the gloves in goal.

In addition, Lungile Nkosi was allowed to practice with the first team following his suspension. Meanwhile, Karabo Molefe and Brandon Peterson are also vying for the same position. The season’s end marks the expiration of Khune’s contract. Whether they decide to extend his contract or if Khune decides to hang up his boots (and gloves) and become a coach is still to be seen.
