Jodwana Extends His VFA Stay, While Manzini Leaves

Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Venda Football Academy have extended Athini Jodwana’s stay, while Rhulani Manzini will leave the club.

Jodwana joined VFA in January after he had a great short spell at Zizwe United in the Western Cape ABC Motsepe League, which left the side topping ‘Stream A’ before missing out on the play-offs against ‘Stream B’ winners Young Bafana.

The former Chippa United midfielder was the main talking point at the end of the league after there were rumours that he had been incorrectly registered by VFA.

The 29-year-old, who also played for Cape Town All Stars in the MFC, has now signed a one-year-and-six months deal with Venda Football Club, meaning he will be with the club until January 2025.

Meanwhile, VFA have decided against renewing Rhulani Manzini’s contract. The experienced forward joined the club at the beginning of the season with the purpose of helping the side to gain promotion to the DStv Premiership.

But things didn’t work out for the club, as they found themselves fighting for relegation instead of fighting for promotion, while Manzini was a player who started from the bench most of the time.

The club released more than 10 players before the beginning of the 2022/23 season, and it seems like they will take that route again this time around, with Manzini confirmed as first departure by a source close to the club.
