Wallabies head coach Eddie Jones says he’s looking forward to returning to Pretoria this weekend ahead of the Springboks match against Australia.

The two teams clash in their first match of the 2023 Rugby Championship at the Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria on Saturday

Jones said he intends to kick off his reign as Wallabies coach by creating history as they look to get their first ever win against the Springboks in Pretoria.

“I remember every trip to Pretoria mate,” said the former England coach.

Asked about the returning Quade Cooper and how important his composure and experience would come in handy at Loftus, Jones joked that the fly-half doesn’t operate in Pretoria too well.

“[Pretoria] It’s more Brandy and Coke up there, but so he’s come back into the squad and he’s an experienced player now added his knowledge,” Eddie Jones added.

The 63-year-old is in his second stint as Wallabies coach and is hoping to take Australia all the way in this year’s Rugby World Cup.

His focus now is beating the world champions on home turf.

“As a squad, the players have worked extremely hard since coming together as a group, and we’ve prepared well this week,” Eddie Jones said after naming his 34-man squad.

“The 23 players selected have an opportunity to be part of history with a win over South Africa in Pretoria on Saturday night.”
