Bafana Bafana legend Doctor Khumalo and head coach Hugo Broos hailed the performance of Percy Tau against Morocco.

Tau, 29, came into the game fresh of winning the CAF Champions League with Al Ahly and put in a superb display in the 2-1 win over the Atlas Lions.

It was Tau’s cross that was fumbled into his own net by goalkeeper Munir El Kajoui after just five minutes, while Tau remained a continued danger man for Bafana down the right wing.

Khumalo said Tau was showing his true class and convinced with maturity on the night.

“It’s fun but with maturity,” he said on SABC Sport.

“He’s used to be playing against this kind of players.”

Meanwhile, Broos also praised the performance of Tau, saying for the first time since he took over the national team in 2021, he saw the real Bafana winger.

“I’ve always said a good Percy Tau is very important,” he explained.

“But Percy was not able in the past to make those performances, because he was not ready. He went form one injury to another.

“He didn’t play. How can you have the rhythm of the game? You see now he is a regular player at Al Ahly and you see his performance. You see how important he is for us. Again, I’m very happy.

“I knew if Percy plays every game at his club, we will see again the Percy everyone knows – an important player for us. He was important for us today and I’m very happy.

“At last, because I’m nearly two years here in the country and today I saw really what I always wanted to see from Percy and it is very good for us and for the team.”
