Collins Mbesuma set to join DStv Premiership side

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates hitman Collins Mbesuma is on the verge of joining a DStv Premiership side ahead of the upcoming 2023/24 season. 

‘Ntofontofo’, as he is popularly known within the football circles, has been without a club since parting ways with Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Pretoria Callies in July 2022. 

Mbesuma was spotted on the bench in Sekhukhune United colours amongst the club’s technical team members. This was during Babina Noko’s pre-season friendly match with Venda Football Club at the Ranch Hotel in Polokwane.

FARPost has gathered that the former Zambian international has joined Sekhukhune as the club’s strikers coach.

The veteran goal poacher is expected to be unveiled officially by the Limpopo club in due course. 

Mbesuma first arrived in South Africa in July 2004 when he joined the Glamour Boys from Roan United in Zambia. 

‘Ntofontofo’, scored on his debut for Amakhosi when they played against Black Leopards. In that game, he injured himself and had to spend some weeks on the sidelines. 

The player went on to be named PSL Player of the Season in 2005. This was after he scored a record of 35 goals in one season with Chiefs.

Mbesuma is one of the players that has scored over 100 goals [103] in the PSL era. The other players to reach the PSL 100 goal mark are the record holder Siyabonga Nomvethe [123 goals], Daniel Mudau [110 goals], Mabhuti Khenyeza [110 goals] Manuel Bucuane [104 goals] and Bradley Grobler [101 goals]. 

In South Africa, he also represented teams such as Mamelodi Sundowns, Moroka Swallows, Golden Arrows, and Orlando Pirates. Black Aces, Highlands Park, Maccabi FC, as well as the University of Pretoria. 

The highly-rated lethal goalscorer will be expected to sharpen Sekhukhune’s striking force to achieve their main task of getting the ball behind the net.
