Last week, this publication also reported that Chiefs also considered making an approach for experienced coach Cavin Johnson. Nothing seemed to come from that. They are believed to be actively in dialogue with Nabi, and having seen him part ways with Yanga last week Wednesday night, he remains a big possibility to take over.

Also in the previous week, this publication revealed that Chiefs have agreed to Nabi’s demands of bringing his own coaching staff, but the clash is now on how many. Amakhosi have told the veteran mentor that he can bring two, but he is thought to be holding out to bring a third. This publication also revealed that he has been trying to push for Helmi Gueldich, who was his strength and conditioning coach at Yanga SC.

According to a player at Yanga, Gueldich has been a massive part of the success Nabi had at the club, hence why he is so hellbent on having him join him in a prospective move to Chiefs. But now, according to iDiski Times, Pirates have made an approach to Gueldich in effort to hijack a potential move to their arch rivals.

Pirates to hijack Gueldich potential Chiefs deal?

“Orlando Pirates have approached Yanga SC strength and conditioning coach Helmy Gueldich, with his contract set to expire at the end of this month. Pirates are in the market for a new member of their technical team after Senior Rehabilitation Specialist Stephen Plummer parted ways with the club after eight years in the role. He’s set for a return to the Blue Bulls and the Buccaneers communicated they’ve begun their search for a new Sports Scientist to fill the vacancy – and Gueldich fits the profile. Gueldich, who has been lauded as one of the key figures in Yanga’s success alongside his compatriot Nasreddine Nabi after the past two seasons in Tanzania has now had contact with the Soweto giants, sources close to the club have confirmed to iDiski Times.”Wrote the publication.
