Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has praised youngsters Mduduzi Shabalala and Samuel Zwane after their performance against Orlando Pirates in Saturday’s Soweto Derby.

The Amakhosi lost to Pirates 6-5 on penalties after S’fiso Hlanti missed his spot-kick. After 90 minutes, the two teams couldn’t be separated.

In the second half, Zwane brought on Shabalala after 62 minutes and Zwane in minute 75, crediting both for their fine displays after the match.

“Most definitely, that’s one thing you can see it’s the direction we’re taking as a club, giving these youngsters the opportunity,” he told reporters.

“They went in there and for me, they changed the complexion of the game to give us that extra oomph.

“That moment as well, that’s when we created that opportunity that we scored. But apart from that we looked dangerous in those half chances that we created.

“Yes, it’s good for the young boys and that will also encourage other youngsters that will play for the Diski team. That if you can go in and change the complexion of the game when there is about 80,000 people at FNB Stadium – that means that mentally they were ready.

“That’s all what we expect from them, if they can cope with that and that means next game they will even be much better. So that also helps the other youngsters that are waiting on the wings for their opportunity to come.”
