Zungu Annoyed with ‘Maduna To Chiefs’ Talk

AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu says Siphesihle Maduna is going nowhere and there is no such thing that he’s going to Kaizer Chiefs as it has been rumoured.

Zungu sounded so unhappy with this talk when he was speaking to iDiski Times about the club’s academy graduate   

Maduna’s contract will expire at the end of the season, but Zungu assured that the 22-year-old will be with the club next campaign.

As his contract will expire at the end of the season, Chiefs have been rumoured to be monitoring the attacking midfielder’s situation and progress, who was dearly loved by coach Benni McCarthy when he was at the club last season.       

“This thing of Maduna going to Chiefs, I don’t know where that comes from,” Zungu told iDiski Times.

“Maduna is with Usuthu until the end of next season.”

Maduna is obliged to sign a pre-contract with the club of his choice next month as he will be left with six months on his deal to go.

Captain Makhehleni Makhaula’s contract will also expire at the end of next season and Usuthu have yet to condicate whether to new it or not.  

However, Maduna has been told by others within the club that grass is not always greener on the other side, making an example of Sibusiso Mabiliso, who came back to join Usuthu after he failed at the Soweto giants.

They have also mentioned to him the situation of Siyethemba Sithebe, who Chiefs are pondering loaning out in January just months after he joined them, according to iDiski Times sources.

Maduna has featured in nine matches in all competitions for Usuthu this season, scoring once which was a penalty in a 1-1 draw against Chiefs’ bitter rivals – Orlando Pirates in October.

That was the first game in charge for coach Romain Folz, after he replaced Brandon Truter in the same month.

Maduna, who was promoted to the senior team in the 2017/18 season, has featured in 78 matches overall, scoring seven goals.
