Mamelodi Sundowns legend Daniel Mudau has revealed the advice he has given to one of the key players of the current squad, Peter Shalulile.
Mambush is currently the all time top goal scorer for Sundowns with 110 goals (stats are recorded from 1996 when the PSL was established).
Shalulile on the other hand is currently fifth on the list with 55 goals behind Raphael Chukwu (64), Themba Zwane (75), Surprise Moriri (78) and Mudau.
The 28-year-old Namibian marksman joined Sundowns in 2020 from now defunct Highlands Park. He has featured over 90 times in all competitions.
Mudau, who played for Masandawana between 1992 and 2003, believes Shalulile needs to stay at the club for more years to come in order to break his long-standing record.
“Let me tell you something about Peter (Shalulile), One of the greatest strikers and I can tell you now that I wish that he can spend many years at Mamelodi Sundowns so that he can break my record because records are there to be broken,” Mudau told FARPost.
“I will be happy if he breaks my record because there will be somebody who will break it because it has been there for years. He is a wonderful striker, he knows where to play, you know Peter when he goes to the box, he wants to score goals, that’s what he wants to do.
“He doesn’t do a lot of dribbling or whatever. He wants to take the ball and put it at the back of the net and celebrate with the supporters,” he said.
“I always talk to him and also tell him that ‘hey Peter play inside the box and make sure that you score the goals, because of the love of these Mamelodi Sundowns supporters who come sing and encourage him. They have also composed a song ‘Sha Sha’. So, they encourage him and he likes that so I am 150% sure that Peter will break my record.”
The Brave Warriors talisman scored his fourth goal of the season when Sundowns beat Stellenbosch 3-0 on Wednesday evening.
