VIDEO: Emotional memorial for Pearl Shongwe

RADIO and TV host Pearl Shongwe was remembered and celebrated at a memorial service held at the SABC in Auckland Park, Joburg.
The 35-year-old presenter died last Wednesday at home at the Waterfall Polofields Estate in Midrand.
Her colleagues and friends came out in their numbers to remember her.
Pearl was working as a presenter for SABC1 show Daily Thetha and newsreader on Metro FM’s breakfast show Wake Up with Mo Flava, Lindo Sirame and Khutso Theledi.
Marian Nyako-Lartey shared how Pearl would often go all out for other people, showing love to everyone.
“She was extremely talented. She was always preaching love to many people in and around her,” Marian said, adding that she would remember her for being selfless.
“She wanted to be more than just a newsreader. She wanted to be a host for a show. This was one of her dreams,” she said.
She said that Pearl was always eager to learn new things in her journey.
Lala Tuku, head of video content at the SABC, said they were deeply saddened by Pearl’s death.
She described her as fearless, adding: “Pearl was solution-driven a lot. Many of you will remember her for how she was.”
She said the whole team was grateful to have known Pearl.
