Former Bafana Bafana striker Lars Veldwijk netted his second goal of the season as his Korean team Suwon picked up a 3-2 win in the K-League 1 earlier today.

It was Veldwijk’s second goal in a week, and he scored just nine minutes after coming on off the bench as an early sub.

Velwijk came on in the 20th minute and his 29th-minute goal opened the scoring as Suwon went on to pick up their third win of the season to move up to seventh.

Veldwiijk scored 18 goals for Suwon in the K League last season.

The 30-year-old, who was born in the Netherlands but with South African heritage, won seven caps with the national team between 2016 and 2019 but failed to score in any of those games.

His last call-up was three years ago, under Stuart Baxter, when Veldwijk was a member of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations squad that reached the quarter-finals, before losing to Nigeria.
