Brandon Truter has described joining AmaZulu as a ‘dream come true’ after the former Swallows coach was unveiled by the club.

Truter was announced as the interim coach of AmaZulu on Sunday.

The former Swallows coach came in to replace Benni McCarthy, who the club parted ways with on Friday.

Truter, who previously coached in KwaZulu-Natal with both Royal Eagles and Richards Bay, said he is happy to be back in Durban.

“Well Durban, KZN as well, I’ve always loved the place having worked there previously for Royal Eagles, for Richards Bay as well, so I’m very familiar with KZN, I’m very familiar with Durban, and absolutely love it,” Truter told the club’s media department.

“Friendly people, nice environment as well, but for me being part of the AmaZulu brand, it’s just a dream come true to put it that way.

“Having monitored the club when they were in the dark days, let’s put it that way, but also I’m happy that what they achieved last season, they showed that they were a sleeping giant, and now they’ve just proven to South Africa that they can compete with the best.

“And and I’m happy to be here, I’m happy, I’m obviously over the moon and grateful to have the opportunity given to me by by the President and the board to coach at AmaZulu.”

Truter says AmaZulu is a big brand, and should be competing with the top teams in the country.

“The brand is big, it’s massive,” he continued.

“I think it should be up there competing with the likes of Sundowns and the Soweto teams as well and in the past, we look at the history as well, AmaZulu has always been there, it’s a massive brand.”

Truter added that with seven games to go, he’s not going to make wholesale changes, but will be looking to solve the problems the team has currently had.

“Look ja, of course the structure and the brand that is here already, it’s a very good structures, very good brand,” he said.

“The technical team and the club have been successful with the plans that have been here as well.

“Yes, results for this year hasn’t been forthcoming as well, and that’s the only thing that I’m hoping to change at the moment.

“Look I’m coming in with seven games left as well, so I’m not stupid, in regard and disrespect the technical team, and the people that that’s around you as well. We have to look at it and how we can turn it around.

“Because ja, we have a very ambitious President, we have a very ambitious and hungry for success supporters as well. So ja, for them as well to to end this season on a high note, we have to turn it around.”
