Stellenbosch have won the race to sign Ismaël Touré from Marumo Gallants after their relegation from the DStv Premiership.
Toure, 25, arrived at Gallants from Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas and became one of the first names on the team sheet as they reached the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup but unfortunately suffered relegation on the final day of the season.
SuperSport, Chippa, Swallows, and Sekhukhune were all keen on the Ivorian centre-back, who impressed during his solitary season at Gallants.
The 25-year has now been snapped up by Stellies on a three-year deal, as the club looks to add experience to their squad to build on their sixth-placed finish last season.
After looking like relegation candidates at one point, their business in the January window saw an incredible turnaround, as they shot up the table and reached the semi-final of the Nedbank Cup.
Toure will no doubt be an addition that generates further momentum for the club in the new season as Steve Barker’s first signing of the 2023/24 campaign.
The move, which is expected to be completed this week, will be major boost to Steve Barker’s side, who are close to also losing Olwethu Makhanya after he attracted interest from abroad and Mamelodi Sundowns.
