Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler has highlighted what former Kaizer Chiefs player Lebogang Manyama could bring to the his team.
Few weeks ago, iDiskiTimes reported that Manyama is edging closer to re-joining the Cape Town-based side on a one-year-deal. The 31-year-old was with City in 2016/17 season and managed to score 16 goals provided 12 assists in 56 appearances.
Tinkler, when asked what Manyama would bring, waxed lyrical about the leadership skills, the quality on the pitch and professionalism of the two time Telkom Knockout winner.
“Lebo obviously brings a level of maturity. His leadership is very, very important,” he told reporters.
“And then his ability to play in spaces. He can play as a false 9, he can play as a 10, he can play up wide, that’s where I used him in the first season when I was at Cape Town City.
“And I think his professionalism. And there’s a lot of talk about Lebo’s professionalism. But for me, I’ve always seen his level of professionalism, his intelligence as a footballer and his intelligence as a human being off the field.
“So I think he brings that to help us, we got a lot of young players that we are bringing through. So that knowledge that he has of the game and that leadership that he has, that becomes important.
“Then creating a positive, but at the same time discipline. Because certain players need discipline, and he brings that, which is important whether they’re young or older players.”
Tinkler also pointed out that City will wait for Manyama to return to full fitness before making a call on whether to sign him or not.
