While they may have been battling in the fight for survival at the bottom of the DStv Premiership, Chippa United were the only South African top-flight club to not have a player sent off this season.
But while they battled it out for survival, they finished at the top of the Fair Play list, though they are also the club who have received the second most yellow cards, with 56 handed out to their players all season.
The team with the next best fair play record is Stellenbosch, who have only had one player, Sage Stephens, sent off. Stellies, who are sixth on the table, have also only received 44 yellow cards. Only two other clubs have received fewer yellows.
Maritzburg United found themselves third best, as they have also only had one player sent off all season while having only received 47 yellows.
The team at the top of the naughty list is Cape Town City, who had five players sent off and received the most yellow cards of any team, with 63 handed out to their players.
The second ‘naughtiest’ team has been relegated Marumo Gallants, who were also handed out a whopping five red cards, though that does include three handed out to players on the bench at the end of a raucous match against Royal AM. They got 53 yellow cards.
Next up is AmaZulu who received four red cards, but they’ve only been given 46 yellow cards.
The DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns are ninth overall in the fair play rankings, while Kaizer Chiefs are slightly better in tied sixth position, while Orlando Pirates are just behind Sundowns in the tenth spot.
