Stellenbosch FC midfielder Jayden Adams has started training assessment with Allsvenskan outfit Varbergs BoIs.

Adams, 21, was one of their standout players over the 2021/22 season in which they finished in a record-high fourth position in the DStv Premiership.

He netted twice in 25 games in all competitions whilst playing all across the midfield in various tactical formations under head coach Steve Barker.

And while he’s been on the radar of the club for the last couple of months, the Swedish top-flight side has now used the South African off-season to invite him over for a brief training period where after he will return to South Africa and they will continue to monitor his progress.

The players’ agency ForwardZone Football Limited confirmed that he started a two-week assessment which started on Monday and ends next Friday where he could be featuring in the COSAFA Cup after being named in the preliminary squad.

“I’m excited to be here and it’s going to be a great learning experience for me in my career before returning to South Africa,” Adams told iDiski Times about the opportunity in Sweden.

He joined up with fellow South Africans Luke Le Roux and Tashreeq Matthews at the club, while Dean Solomons, Ryan Moon and Keanin Ayer all departed in the off-season.
