Sirino Breaks Silence On Bafana Talk
Mamelodi Sundowns star Gaston Sirino says he would be happy to represent Bafana Bafana should he receive a call-up.
The Uruguayan playmaker arrived in South Africa in 2018 from Bolivar under then-head coach Pitso Mosimane and has emerged as one of the most exciting talents in the league.
With five years now passed in the country, he’s become eligible for citizenship and having not represented his country at senior international level, he remains eligible to switch his allegiance, should head coach Hugo Broos be keen on his services.
“I have had a great time in this beautiful country,” Sirino told Sundowns Magazine when asked about potentially representing South Africa.
“I love everything about it and if I get presented with the chance to don the national team colors I would jump at the opportunity, but the decision does not rest with me.
“There is no player born in South America who has played for Bafana Bafana and if I receive the call, I would be happy to represent this beautiful nation.”
Sirino has won eight trophies since his arrival at the club, including five league titles while scoring 36 goals and registering 41 assists in 169 games across all competitions.
