Social media users have been left howling with laughter after a clip of Fikile Mbalula’s speech about South Africa’s energy crisis was cut short thanks to Eskom and load shedding!
The ANC Secretary-General spoke at the University of Johannesburg about the party’s “emergency energy dialogue.”
But Fikile found himself in the dark, and the laughing stock of Twitter.

In a clip that went viral on Twitter on Friday, 27 January, Fikile Mbalula is seen briefing the public about what steps the ANC plan to take to mobilise action against the energy crisis and Eskom electricity price hikes.
Fikile’s address was in response to a march to Luthuli House earlier this week – led by the opposition party, the DA – in which members handed over a memorandum of their grievances.
Fikile says in the clip: “We engage robustly in ideas.” He added, referring to the march: “It was sometimes not a nice debate because they took to the street
Just then, the lights at the venue suddenly go out, thanks to load shedding, leaving Bra Fiks in the dark.
The clip is then cut short with a SABC anchor adding: “That’s load shedding there. Quite ironic, given that it is a talk on the energy crisis”.
