Even though the mask mandate has been lifted, the South African Medical Association (SAMA) encourages people to still wear masks if they have any symptoms related to respiratory infections.

The country’s final three COVID-19 regulations were dropped on Wednesday night.

Sama chairperson Mvuyisi Mzukwa said if you are symptomatic, you consider other people around you.

“We have learned as South Africans from this pandemic that we need to protect each other,” he said.
