Royal AM have reportedly made a decision on an Orlando Pirates legend whose contract was coming to an end on 30 June.

Thabo Matlaba will remain at Royal AM beyond June after Shauwn Mkhize’s club offered him a one-year deal until June 2024, according to KickOff.
Matlaba has been with Thwihli Thwahla since January 2022 following his surprise exit from Swallows FC.

And the veteran full-back has been nothing but a stalwart in that Royal AM team alongside the likes of Elias Pelembe.

“Thabo Matlaba is staying Royal AM. He’s happy to stay in KwaZulu-Natal and continue his career at Royal AM,” said a source known to the publication.

Meanwhile, another Orlando Pirates legend in Happy Jele is waiting to hear from the management whether or not he will be retained.

Jele only joined Royal AM on a free transfer in February, and he hasn’t featured that much due to injuries and stiff competition.
At 36, Jele is in the twilight of his career, and he’s previously revealed that he’s not panicking at all because he’s got other interests on the sides.
