Sekhukhune will be out to revenge when they visit Marumo Gallants on the last matchday of the season at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. The topflight debutants will look to end the DStv Premiership season on a high note following their defeat at home in the reverse fixture.

Babina Noko’s Achilles heel has been missing chances and failing to score lately, and they will be hoping to correct the mistakes against Gallants. “The boys have really pushed very hard this week; they really want to get a win because this is a team that took three points from us at home earlier in the year, so they want to pay revenge,” said Sekhukhune co-coach Owen da Gama.

He added that the club’s chairman Jonas Malatji had set them a 35 points target, which can only be achieved if they win the season’s final match. “We are all highly motivated for this game, and the boys prepared as best as possible; everybody wants to play. It was so difficult to select the team, but it shows that the team’s character is 100%, and we are really looking forward to the game.”

Da Gama, however, admitted it would not be an easy game “because they are a ball playing team and can build from the back.” He added: “We will try and use our tactics to nullify or negate them, but we really want to have a great game and end the season on a high.”

Both teams sit in 10th and 11th place on the log, separated by one point. Gallants will look to avoid defeat and remain in the 10th spot. On the other hand, Sekhukhune will be gunning to climb the table and take the number ten spot.

Meanwhile, Sekhukhune captain Yusuf Maart has expressed his gratitude to the club’s fans. “Thank you for the support, the love and the care for our supporters. Thank you for supporting us throughout the season, we’ll try our best and everything and have a good offseason, and we’ll come back strong we need you guys to support us. I will love and leave you guys,” said the 26-year-old midfielder.

The former Orlando Pirates youth product made 27 appearances in the DStv Premiership and contributed two goals and two assists in Babina Noko’s maiden season.
