Relegation-Threatened Chippa Target League Double Over Pirates

Chippa United head Kurt Lentjies is confident that his side can get all maximum points when they face Orlando Pirates this afternoon.

Chilli Boys hasn’t won a league game since Lentjies took over from Morgan Mammila in February.

The Eastern Cape-based side dropped to 14th place which is something no football supporter expected especially after a good start they had. Lentjies has returned to try and save the team from getting relegated.

Speaking with the club media ahead of the big clash on Saturday, Lenjties mentioned that every game coming up for them is a cup final and that will have to start in the game against the Buccaneers.

“It has nothing to do with our form, once the referee blows the whistle at 17h30 all form or anything gets kicked out window,” Lentjies told the club’s media department.

“It’s the 95 minutes that count from there. Obviously, the mood has been good in the camp, after the last result against Supersport United we played a team that is second on the log, we walked away with a draw we actually felt we could’ve done a bit better.

“We could’ve walked away with the three points. We playing Orlando Pirates they are second on the log at the moment.

“So we not looking into a form or anything like that we focus on what we can control which is what is going to happen in the 95 minutes starting on Saturday so the guys are positive, the mood is good and we looking forward to the game.”

Chippa beat Pirates 1-0 at Orlando Stadium in the reserve fixture under then head coach Daine Klate with Abdi Banda scoring the late winner.
