TS Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic has questioned why referees aren’t punished for making mistakes in the same manner players and coaches are.
Ramovic was visibly incensed at the full-time whistle as Keagan Dolly’s stunning late free-kick salvaged a 2-2 draw in their DStv Premiership clash at FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening.
It marked what he notably described as a deserved equaliser after Bernard Parker and Junior Traore had cancelled out Ashley du Preez’ seventh-minute opener in the game.
However, the free-kick leading to the Dolly effort was questionable as it appeared the Rockets defender had played the ball first before taking the man out, which Ramovic called to question.
“I don’t want to try and make excuses because Chiefs deserved the second goal because they played well and created opportunities and didn’t score, in the end, they got a great gift,” Ramovic said in the post-match press conference at FNB Stadium.
“Now my question is… if a coach makes a small mistake or a big one, he can lose his job right? If a player makes a bad mistake, he can also lose his job. What about if the ref makes a bad choice, what then? Nothing.
“This is what I feel we should talk about, I brought it up many times, I don’t want to blame anyone, I’m just asking that they have to improve their game because it’s not just today, it’s many games you see mistakes.
“The last [Chiefs] game against Chippa when they said he was offside, he was not offside, so we have to talk about these things.”
While the Bosnian mentor expressed his dissatisfaction over the officiating, he was left pleased by his side’s display as they secured a hard-fought point at the Calabash – where Chiefs remain unbeaten this season.
“Again, there’s nothing to blame for anyone, everyone makes mistakes, even me, everyone – but how should we improve, what should we do? Because this kills many teams, we lost two points. But okay I also have to give a lot of credit to my team for sticking together – now we scored,” he continued.
“The last few weeks everyone was writing about how we didn’t score but we got a point, today we scored twice and we got what? A point. So it’s like yes, we are happy about it, yes we have to improve to score more but it’s not easy to come to Chiefs and get a point.
“So it’s a fantastic club, with a fantastic team, great coach and we’re happy to get every point that we can get here.”
