Former youth international Nkosinathi Ononogbu has once again got himself in hot water over his participation in Kasi football tournaments.

Onyedikachi Ononogbu is one of the four players released by Motsepe Foundation Championship Baroka on Tuesday.

Defender Jerry Msane, striker Decide Chauke and goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane are the other players who parted ways with Bakgaga.

But unlike the three, it was a different case with Ononogbu. He was summoned into a disciplinary hearing on 28 November.

This is for allegedly participating in a ‘Kasi’ football tournament in Tembisa without the club’s permission. He was found guilty and subsequently dismissed on Tuesday.

“We have parted ways with Jackson Mabokgwane. He has requested the team to release him,” said club acting CEO Richard Mashabane.

WHY BAROKA FIRED NKOSINATHI ONONOGBU

“Decide Chauke as well has requested the club to release him. Nkosinathi Ononogbu was found guilty of playing at a Township tournament in Tembisa while the season was on. He was not authorised by anyone from the management to go and play at the tournament.”

“Jerry Msane was released because of poor performances. So, those are the players that have parted ways with the club.”

Mashabane has also confirmed that there will be some new faces at the club ahead of the resumption of the season’s second round. The official declined to comment on whether there will be more departures.

Meanwhile, FARPost reached out to Nkosinathi Ononogbu, who declined to comment on the matter.

This is not the first time Ononogbu finds himself in trouble for participation in amateur tournaments.

In 2021, Ononogbu, together with Lefa Hlongwane and Tebogo Makobela, were dismissed by Black Leopards after playing at the Thabiso Semenya Games, a day after playing in a league match.

The three were immediately shown the door at Lidoda, who were battling with relegation at the time.
