The Premier Soccer League (PSL) have summoned Mamelodi Sundowns and captain Themba Zwane to the Disciplinary Committee over the incident in the MTN8.
Sundowns beat ten-man Moroka Swallows 1-0 and the incident in question was Zwane, who was booked after 30 seconds for ‘time wasting’.
While the game’s winning goal was contentious as it appeared to be off-side, PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu has confirmed their communication with the club on Thursday.
“I can confirm, early this morning, I preferred charges against Mr Zwane, the captain of Mamelodi Sundowns, as well as Mamelodi Sundowns arising from their encounter in the MTN8 kickoff match,” Majavu confirmed.
“In the match, it was delayed by approximately three minutes, as a result of this misconduct which is legislated against in the rules of the league, they have been summoned to appear before the PSL DC on the 24th of August at 11 o clock.
“Once the matter is finalised, I will give a final update on the outcome, there will be no running commentary on this matter until I update officially and formally.”
Sundowns will face Kaizer Chiefs in the semi-final stage of the competition over a two-legged tie for a place in the final.
