Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahli Saudi side have opened a nine-point gap to the non-promotion spots after collecting his 10th win in Saudi Arabia.
Al Ahli beat 11th-placed Ohod on Monday afternoon thanks to goals by Haitham Mohammed Asiri in the 11th minute and Bastos in the 65th minute.
Mosimane’s side managed to bring another three points home, which saw them record their seventh victory in their last eight matches.
Monday’s results sees them remain level on points with leaders Al Hazem, who also won their Monday fixture 2-0.
Both teams are now sitting on 46 points on the log in the First Division, which is nine more than fifth-placed Al-Faisaly, who have a game in hand.
It was Mosimane’s 10th win since moving to Saudi Arabia, while he’s drawn six and lost just one of his 17 games in charge of Al Ahli.
They return to action on 1 March when they will face seventh-placed Jeddah Club.
