Pitso Previews ‘Must-Win’ CAFCL Encounter

Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane has previewed his side’s final CAF Champions League group stage clash, which could still see them being knocked out.

The reigning champions currently sit in second place in Group A behind Mamelodi Sundowns, who had already qualified for the knockouts after five games.

Ahly, who sit on seven points, have their own fate in their own hands and need to secure at least a draw against Al Hilal Omdurman on Sunday, with the visitors having a chance of overtaking Mosimane’s men should they beat them in Cairo.

“We have to win, if we want to qualify we have to win. If Hilal want to qualify they have to win,” Mosimane said.

“So this is going to be a game of nobody wants to defend and probably will have many goals tomorrow.

“It’s good going to be having a game like this that’s very open, but very tough, of course.”

Mosimane included South African winger Percy Tau in his squad to face Al Hilal after he had missed the two Bafana Bafana games and insisted he will never complain about injuries.

“We never complain [about having players out] because they’re helping the country and they have to be soldiers to help the country,” he added.

“They are carrying the national flag and there’s no surprise, sometimes we don’t have nine coming back and we’re going to the [Club] World Cup.

“Sometimes we have Shenawy, everybody injured. Sometimes we have Percy Tau going to South Africa and coming back injured, it’s our lives, it’s part of the game.

“But we’re not going to complain, it’s part of Al Ahly. It’s the only team on the continent that has a program like this.”

Al Ahly take on Al Hilal at 22:00 (SA time) on Sunday evening.
