Pitso Cites Pep Example For Al Wahda Ambitions

Pitso Mosimane has used Pep Guardiola as an example when discussing his ambitions with his new club Al Wahda FC.

Mosimane, 59, is a serial winner and has accumulated 19 trophies throughout his managerial career so far.

He has a new challenge ahead of him after taking over the United Arab Emirates side, who have not won the league title since 2009/10, but Mosimane has revealed he is targeting silverware with his new club by following the same principles which made him successful at Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly and Al Ahli Jeddah.

“I have won many championships with big clubs like Egypt’s Al Ahly, South Africa’s Sundowns, and Saudi’s Al-Ahli Jeddah. I always aspire to win titles,” Mosimane said as per Kingfut.

“I come from a culture and mindset that seeks titles. I am positive and optimistic about our ability to win one or two titles with Al-Wahda. It would be great to win the league because it’s a priority.

“Al-Wahda has a good team, but it’s important that we have the desire and fight. Championships don’t come easily; they come through struggle, overcoming difficulties, and challenges.

“I won championships with the teams I coached before, so why not win championships with Al-Wahda?

“I am humble. A coach doesn’t win championships alone because he is a good coach, but because he has a comprehensive system and good players. Guardiola doesn’t win with Manchester City alone, but because he has Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne.

“My philosophy of winning cannot be achieved by myself. It’s up to the players to have the same desire. I have already spoken with them, and the team will face challenges and difficulties throughout the season.

“The league is tough, and the champion is the one who rises after feeling the pains. We are not alone in desiring the title. Al-Ain, Shabab Al-Ahli, Al-Jazira, and Sharjah will compete strongly.

“Motivation is of utmost importance, and the champion is the one who rises after feeling the pains.”

Al Wahda, who finished in third position last season, face Al Bataeh in their UAE Pro League opener on Friday. Al Bataeh finished in 12th spot last season, avoiding relegation by just one point.
