Orlando Pirates left-back Paseka Mako is confident that his side will go all the way in next season’s CAF Champions League campaign.
Pirates enjoyed a successful season under Jose Riveiro that saw them win the MTN 8 and Nedbank Cup while finishing second in the DStv Premiership, which gained them the qualification to Africa’s premier club competition.
Mako spoke to iDiski Times senior Writer Velile Mnyandu, in edition 107 of the newspaper and said the 2021/22 quarter-final against Raja Casablanca albeit in the Confed Cup doesn’t have any bearing on their ambitions for the Champions League.
“It doesn’t make us ready. We are ready for the Champions League and then I feel like we will make it and we’ll go through to the final,” the 29-year-old told iDiski Times.
“Because of my team, my players and because we are performing well now and we are gelling well. Even if maybe someone is not playing, someone who shares the position with you, he’ll encourage you to play well and to perform. This is the kind of positive spirit and unity the team needs”
