Orlando Pirates bounced back to winning ways when they secured a 2-0 win against Golden Arrows in a DStv Premiership match at Princess Magogo stadium on Tuesday.
It was the first win in five matches for Pirates who had drawn three and lost one in the last four matches.
Forward Monnapule Saleng opened his account for the Buccaneers with a goal as early as the sixth minute.
The 24-year-old doubled the scoring in the 24th minute with an assist from Kermit Erasmus inside the 18-area box.
PIRATES CLIMB THE TABLE
The win takes the Buccaneers to fourth on the DStv Premiership log with 19 points from 12 games. They will travel to Polokwane for their MTN8 semifinal encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday. A week later, the Buccaneers will take on rivals Kaizer Chiefs in a Soweto derby at FNB Stadium.
Arrows on the other hand are at position eight with 13 points from the same number of games. They have now gone three matches without a win after two draws and one defeat. They will take on Royal AM in the KZN derby next.
SUPERSPORT GO TOP OF THE LOG
SuperSport United are currently top of the log standings following a 2-0 win against Stellenbosch at Danie Craven Stadium. It was their third successive win and a sixth win in eight matches.
United goals came via Jamie Webber and Bradley Grobler in either half. Their lead at the top may change depending on the result between Mamelodi Sundowns and Marumo Gallants on Wednesday.
MMAMILA CONTINUES TO IMPRESS
Chippa United secured their fourth successive victory with a 1-0 win against struggling Sekhukhune United at Chatsworth Stadium. The win takes the Chilli Boys to sixth position after 11 matches. The Morgan Mmamila coached side will now face Cape Town City on Tuesday next week.
