Official: Foster Signs New Deal In Europe

Bafana Bafana forward Lyle Foster has secured himself a permanent transfer to Belgian side Westerlo after impressing on loan last season.

The 21-year-old spent the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Westerlo, helping the side to gain promotion in the Jupiler Pro League, and has now penned a four-year deal with the club.

“Lyle Foster was hired last season from Vitória Guimarães SC B,” the club confirmed on Friday.

“We are proud to announce that he has now signed for four seasons with the Kemphanen. The 21-year-old center forward was an important link in the team last season. He managed to score 4 goals and gave 5 assists.

“Welcome back Lyle!”

This publication understands, Westerlo agreed on a €1-million (R17-million) deal with a 15% sell-on clause for future sales, should he make another move from the newly-promoted side and has offered assurances of regular first-team football after stints at AS Monaco, Vitória and Cercle Brugge on loan over the past 24 months.

Jupiler Pro title-chasing side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise was also interested in the Bafana forward but failed in a last-ditch attempt to sign Foster.

The former Orlando Pirates talent scored five goals and registered five assists in 26 appearances for the Westerlo last season during the season-long loan from Vitória.
