Ntando Duma debuts Bhibhi kaSompisi’s look whilst filming Shaka Ilembe

Ntando Duma showed us that shooting for Shaka Ilembe had commenced, and she debuted the look for Bhibhi kaSompisi. As we know, Ntando Duma was cast for the role, and although her casting was controversial, the show goes on.

Whilst filming, she showed her fans her changing room and debuted the image of her character as Bhibhi kaSompisi Ntando Duma wears regal traditional Zulu clothes from the early centuries.

Her hairstyle looks majestic, with the elongated afro shaped as a Zulu female hat. Her jewellery is made of beads and a large gold pendant on the front.

True African outfits

We can see Bomb production is taking the image of the cast members very seriously. Everything we’ve seen so far, from the hair to the minimal makeup, is very believable.

When the show made it to the news, Nomzamo Mbatha’s hairdo was also regally African and bold. Nomzamo had a large afro similar to that of Ntando Duma. She was wearing animal skin attire and beads around her head.

As the show revealed, they did six years’ of research to capture the storyline. So far, we can see the leather outfits are tailored using a non-machinery way of stitching fabrics together. All the clothing has details on it to show the rank and identity of each character.

Ntando received backlash

Everyone knows the Zulu Nation prides itself and how it’s represented hence the controversy. Initially, when Ntando Duma was announced to play Bhibhi kaSompisi, there were Zulu speaking concerns—considering that her IsiZulu is not as fluent and doesn’t have that accent.

Ntando Duma certainly looks the part of Bhibhi KaSompisi. She looks like an African queen from the video she posted whilst filming. Perhaps viewers should wait for the show before being controversial Ntando can nail this role.
