Royal AM chairman Andile Mpisane returned to the pitch for Royal AM again, running out for the club’s Reserves against AmaZulu’s Reserves.
The 21-year-old, who has previously been lauded as a ‘skilful’ player by former coaches at Royal AM and Royal Eagles, made three appearances in the second-tier but has yet to make the pitch in the top-flight since they bought the status of Bloemfontein Celtic.
Mpisane is the youngest chairman in the Premier Soccer League and he made his professional debut in December 2018 when he came off the bench for Royal Eagles in a win over Witbank Spurs.
He played sparely in the 2020/21 season, and had seemingly shifted his focus from the pitch to the boardroom.
It wasn’t the first time Mpisane ran out for Royal AM’s Reserves as he made second-half cameo in his side’s 2-1 win against Stellenbosch in the Diski Challenge in January 2022.
He was also named on the bench for the first team in September, when the club lost 1-0 to Richards Bay before taking to the field in the Macufe Cup win over Kaizer Chiefs.
On Saturday, Mpisane featured for just over 60 minutes, as he captained his side against AmaZulu, with the team leading 1-0. However, they conceded a late equaliser in injury-time to share the spoils.
