After captaining South Africa in their goalless draw against Guinea on Friday, Veli Mothwa says the team did well, but he rued the missed chances on the night.
Mothwa kept his sixth clean sheet in as many caps, as Bafana and Guinea drew 0-0 in Belgium.
The AmaZulu goalkeeper said they followed instructions, and played well, but missed chances, and that is something they need to work on before next week’s game against France.
“As the South African captain with the team that played today, we played very well with the instructions that we got from the coach and then everything went very well,” Mothwa said after the game.
“So with the new player(s), who just played his first cap today, (Athenkosi) Gcaba, and then with so many chances that we missed, I think we looking forward to the next game that we’re gonna play.
“But so far today, it was a good game and then somewhere somehow we need to fix what we broke.
“But I think with the coach and his ideas, everything’s gonna be fine.”
