Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has confirmed that the club have agreed to send Thabiso Kutumela on loan to Cape Town City.
Masandawana beat Golden Arrows 4-0 at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Tuesday evening – two days after Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler confirmed they secured the signing of Kutumela.
Mokwena also confirmed Kutumela’s departure, wishing him all the best ahead of his move.
“Kutu has also requested to go on loan,” he said after the game.
“We’ve agreed with Cape Town City.
“I just want to officially thank him for his services to the football club and wish him everything of the best.”
Kutumela scored five goals and registered six assists in 38 games for Sundowns since his move from Maritzburg United, the club where he worked with Tinkler, back in 2021.
City are yet to officially announce the arrival of Kutumela but are expected to confirm the deal in the coming days.
Mokwena also said that Downs might still enter the market for another striker after finding themselves rattled with a few injuries early in the season – with Peter Shalulile also walking off the pitch with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.
“On the strikers, if we can get Thapelo [Morena] back quickly, we can get [Abubeker] Nasir back also very quickly, I think we are in a decent situation,” he added.
“Of course we have to go and see whether we will go into the market. That’s the space for the sporting director and the club.
“They know my feelings about the club and I leave it to that.”
