Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi has confirmed the signing of Erwin Saavedra, while stating Gaston Sirino has been registered for the second half of the season.

Sundowns have been reported to secure the Bolivia international midfielder from Bolivar in a reported R18.5-million transfer but after the transfer deadline, there was no official confirmation from the club.

However,Mngqithi has clarified the situation while ending speculation that his arrival will spell the end of Sirino’s future at the club – with the Uruguayan, who’s Saavedra’s former teammate – already on the periphery of the squad.

“Saavedra we’ve signed, we’ve registered him for CAF as well, so we’ve sealed that one, he’s a very good footballer by the way,” Mnqithi said at the Nedbank Cup launch.

“On [Abubeker] Nassir, I’d prefer not to comment,” he added before confirming Gaston Sirino is registered for the second half of the season.”

The Ethiopia international Nassir, is said to have made a huge impression during his assessment, iDiski Times can confirm – with the technical team left in awe by his finishing ability.

Having scored in their 6-1 friendly win over Jwaneng Galaxy this week, it’s understood, the club is ready to secure his services for next season with a return to Ethiopia Coffee mooted for the next six months.
